Stop Chewing!

‘stop doberman pinscher from chewing

The best way to know how to get your Doberman Pinscher from chewing is to understand why he is chewing.

There are a number of reasons why dogs chew, and they don’t just stick to their toys, they chew your shoes, the kids toys, the couch, and anything else they can get their teeth on.

It will take some time and a lot of patience to get your Doberman Pinscher to stop chewing. First thing you want to do is to find the reason for the chewing.

Is the dog having problems with his/her teeth? If it is a puppy, it may be teething.

Some other reasons for the chewing may include bordom, hunger, and anxiouness.

So the best thing that you can do to stop the chewing is to take preventative measures.

If you think that the dog is chewing out of bordom, take him on a long walk and make sure that he gets plenty of exercise, and maybe he/she won’t get so bored.

If you have a puppy that is teething try finding him/her a great chew toy. I have found that rawhide bones work well, or a favorite stuffed animal. It all depends on the puppy.

If you suspect that your dog is having trouble with his/her teeth take them to the vet and have them checked, there may be a medical reason for their chewing.

If you can’t seem to stop the chewing then you will have to get them some other alternitives, hard rubber balls, frozen treats, teething rings, and you can find these things at any pet store.

As for the chewing on the furniture you may have to consider spraying the furniture with a bitter tasting spray. This will work for some dogs, but not all. You can try vinegar, rubbing alcohol or a bitter apple spray. Make sure that this will not harm your furniture before applying. Some times you just have to allow the Doberman Pinscher grow out of the chewing phase.

All in all here are some things to try…Good Luck.
